You want to get your hair done, but you don’t feel like leaving home and wish someone would come to you? Well, there’s an app for that.
Atlanta based app, Colour, targets mainly women of coloring connecting them with hairstylists that will come to their homes. The app was developed by Debra Shigley after realizing that women of color have limited resources when it comes to finding a salon that can do their hair the way they like. In an interview with Ebony, Shigley talked about her experiences with finding stylists to do her hair as she travels. She said, “When I had my first national beauty appearance on the view and I was up in New York, my first question was what was I going to do with my hair. As a woman of color, you may have your own trusted hairstylist but it’s often uncomfortable to think about how you move around the world with the need of getting your hair done and not knowing where to go. As a professional woman I should be able to go from Atlanta to New York and not be worried about whether there would be someone who could do my hair.”
The app is currently in Atlanta, but is looking to expand to other cities soon. Read the full interview at EBONY http://www.ebony.com/style/black-hair-app#ixzz4Bc3FATjj.
