Such cowardice, the man who was terrorizing the city of Austin Texas is now dead after police closed in on the suspect. Domestic terrorism at it’s finest!
The suspects name is 23 year old Mark Anthony Conditt, who is a white male.
According to Fox:
uthorities earlier described the suspect only as a 24-year-old white man.
Conditt, the suspect in a spate of bombing attacks that have terrorized Austin over the past month, blew himself up with an explosive device as authorities closed in early Wednesday.
Authorities had zeroed in on Conditt in the last 24 to 36 hours and located his vehicle at a hotel on Interstate 35 in the suburb of Round Rock, Austin police chief Brian Manley said at a news conference.
They were waiting for ballistic vehicles to arrive to move in for an arrest when his vehicle began to drive away, Manley said. Authorities followed the vehicle, which ran into a ditch on the side of the road, the police chief said.
When members of the SWAT team approached, Conditt detonated an explosive device inside the vehicle, the police chief said.
The blast knocked back one officer, while a second officer fired his weapon, Manley said. Conditt was killed.
Neighbors expressed shock that Conditt, who was homeschooled, was the bomber.
“I know this is a cliché but I just can’t imagine that,” one neighbor, whose children grew up playing with Conditt, told the Austin Statesman.
The local newspaper also reported that Conditt had received a degree from Austin Community College’s Northridge Campus. He had worked at Crux Semiconductor and as a computer repair technician.
Police were able to identify Conditt with help from video footage and witness accounts.
Austin Interim Police Chief Brian Manley warned that some package bombs might “still be out there.”
But officials are unsure of his motive.
“We do not understand what motivated him to do what he did and that will also be part of the continuing investigation as we try to learn more about him and try to understand why he took the actions he did,” Manley said.
