It’s been rumored for a while that actress Brie Larson was being considered to play the title character in the first female-led Marvel movie, Captain Marvel. Still, now it’s totally official! Brie Larson is definitely Captain Marvel and that, my friends, is super duper exciting.
The young actress just won an Academy Award for her knockout performance in Room, and now she’s going to be knocking out bad guys left and right as an Avenger. At San Diego Comic Con this past week, Larson was brought on as a surprise guest for the Marvel panel in Hall H as they announced her casting.
Even Captain America himself, Chris Evans, is super excited for Marvel’s newest captain. The two had worked together on Scott Pilgrim vs. the World and Evans apparently thinks the world of the actress. He retweeted a picture of Brie Larson with his own added comment of “BOOM!!!!!!”
and that level of excitement seems to sum up that of fans as well.
Many have posted their feelings of Larson’s playing Captain Marvel on Tumblr and the results are mainly ecstatic.
To sum it up, fans seem to think Larson is a good choice for the role and I cannot bring myself to disagree. She’s a pretty fabulous actress and we definitely need more female characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Overall, Larson is what the world needs right now, and hopefully when her movie makes millions, Marvel will finally stop lallygagging over the Black Widow film they keep promising us. What do you guys think? Is Brie Larson the right choice? Will Black Widow ever get her own movie? Are fans a little too excited over this news? Comment below with your thoughts!
