One of my favorite rappers of all time visited Good Morning America Today (August 15) to perform his song “Summer Friends” and to chat about his crazy year as an artist.
In a pre- recorded clip before the live interview and performance, the 23- year-old discussed the importance of his relationship with God in his music, which he believes gives him freedom.
He says: “I think there’s a lot of taboos in hip-hop that people try and stay away from,” the Chi-town MC said. “I think a big one is: people are afraid to speak about God to a certain extent, and I think if you’re not free to speak about God then you’re not free.”
Chance’s mixtape Coloring Book became the first streaming-only body of the academy to the chart on the Billboard 200, and all ready to be considered streaming the only artist for Grammy award consideration.
