He has reportedly been in talks with executives at Warner Bros. and spent some time in NYC with Luhrmann, the filmmaker behind The Great Gatsby and Moulin Rouge! G-Eazy made his pitch to show Luhrmann how serious he was about portraying Presley.

The 30-year-old MC has also been sharing Elvis-inspired photos of himself on Instagram. He captioned one with the lyrics: “Don’t be cruel, to a heart that’s true.”
A casting decision has not been made yet, but G-Eazy has some serious competition. Five big names have reportedly auditioned for the starring role, including Ansel Elgort, Miles Teller, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Harry Styles, and Austin Butler.
Tom Hanks has already been cast to play Elvis’ manager, Colonel Tom Parker, in the film.
