Jhene Aiko, Meek Mill, Eminem and Vince Staples Are All Contenders For An Oscar Nomination For Best Original Song


Meek Mill may not be having the best month, but at least got a little bit of sunshine, The Hollywood Reporter reported the list of contenders for the Academy Awards’ Best Original Song roster, which lists some of hip hop and R&B’s brightest.

With 74 songs in the running from films that were released in 2015, Eminem did the soundtrack for ‘Southpaw’ with ‘Phenomenal’ Meek recorded “Fighting Stronger” alongside Jhene Aiko, while Vince Staples, Childish Gambino and Aiko might make the cut with “Waiting For My Moment.” The two aforementioned tracks were both featured in Creed.

From the motion picture Chi-Raq, Nick Cannon’s name appeared for “Pray 4 My City.” The chart-topping and record-breaking melody, “See You Again” by Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth, was also named on the list.

The official list of nominations will be revealed February, 28th.
