Kendall Jenner seems to be breaking ranks from her high fashion job to join Pepsi in creating a commercial. However, the commercial is now receiving backlash for its inherent “Black Lives Matter” subliminal message.
The commercial starts out with Jenner in a blond wig watching as protesters march by in the street. Seemingly inspired by the marchers, Jenner rips off her wig, wipes off her lipstick and joins the marchers. She is then seen handing a Pepsi to a police officer, which E! News labeled as a sign of a “peace offering.” The officer seems to have been standing there to guard crowd control among other officers. He is then shown smiling as he takes a swig from the Pepsi can. Then the protesters, including Jenner, are all shown cheering in celebration.
Some compare the scene of Jenner handing the Pepsi to the officer to that of the picture of Iesha Evans protesting last year in response to the shootings in Minnesota and Louisiana.
This is what some users had to say on Twitter:
I can't believe Kendall Jenner stopped police brutality with PEPSI! We have achieved world peace, guys!

Pepsi responded to the criticism, telling E! “This is a global ad that reflects people from different walks of life coming together in a spirit of harmony, and we think that’s an important message to convey.”
