Kendrick Lamar to Headline Hot 97’s Summer Jam And Wins Pulitzer Prize for ‘DAMN’

Kendrick Lamar is winning and in a major way, yesterday it was announced that he was the first Rap artist to ever win a pulitzer prize.

Pulitzer’s website celebrates the album as a “virtuosic song collection unified by its vernacular authenticity and rhythmic dynamism that offers affecting vignettes capturing the complexity of modern African-American life.”

TDE President Terrence “Punch” Henderson also celebrated the news on Twitter. “Pulitzer Prize winner Kdot from Compton,” he wrote. “I bet not ever hear one of you niggas speak with anything less than respect in your mouth for Kendrick Lamar. #TDE.”

Not only that, Kendrick Lamar will headline, Hot 97’s Summer Jam The 25th annual event, which carries the theme “’94 ’til Infinity,” will also feature Lil Wayne, who will perform classics from his Carter series. Meanwhile, A$AP Ferg, Tory Lanez, Swizz Beatz, Remy Ma, Rich the Kid, A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, and more will appear on the Stadium Stage at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J. on June 10.

The annual Festival Stage will feature rising stars including Famous Dex, Jay Critch, Don Q, and Snoopy Dinero.

A pre-sale for American Express card members runs April 17-19, while general tickets go on sale Friday (April 20).
