Rihanna will be making her television debut in A&E’s Bates Motel, she’s been tapped to play Marion Crane, which was made famous by Janet Leigh. The casting was announced today during the show’s panel at Comic-Con in San Diego.
Executive producers Carlton Cuse and Kerry Ehrin said in announcing the casting:
“We wanted to thrust the iconic role into a contemporary spotlight and redefine it in a meaningful and exciting new way. We also heard Rihanna was a fan of the show, and we were huge fans of hers, so it was the perfect collision of creativity and fate.”
Show creators and executive producers Kerry Ehrin and Carlton Cuse introduced a clip of Rihanna at San Diego Comic-Con breaking the news herself. Rihanna appeared in the 2012 feature film “Battleship,” and made a came in Seth Rogen and James Franco‘s 2013 apocalypse comedy “This is The End.”
