The Weeknd appeared on the cover of VMAN’s Fall 16′ issue in which he opens up about his album follow up to “Beauty Behind the Madness”.
“I’ve been very intrigued by the film Amadeus,” he says. “I’ll touch on my relationship with religion a little bit and how it ties into my crazy and materialistic life. I’ll touch base on some recent experiences and past experiences that didn’t make the last album.
Abel explains that while recording “Beauty Behind the Madness” he also wrote music to his upcoming album claiming it to be the “best sounding album” he’s ever done. However, we don’t know the complete details of what the albums is going to be named or released. What we do know is that it has to top Beauty Behind the Madness which birthed singles such as “The Hills” and “Can’t Feel My Face.” Many claim that although Weeknd had ground shaking success during his previous album release , Beauty Behind the Madness was where his career heightened and broke through to mainstream.
“My purpose is to make exciting music, and I feel like I’ll be doing that for the rest of my life, so there’s no pressure. Nothing is stopping me from doing what I love to do.”
Abel Tesfaye also announced that there are new inspirations on his album unlike his infamous Michael Jackson inspired songs. He says that the production feels aggressive but promises to keep it sexy.
The Smiths, Bad Brains, Talking Head,s Prince, and Debarge play roles in some of the songs he wrote while being in Los Angeles. “It’s hard to label the sound because, when I first came out, nobody would label it R&B. I just want to keep pushing the envelope without it feeling forced,” he says.
One thing we can bet on, it won’t take him 3 years to release a decent album…no shade Frank …we still love you too.
