June 20th has been deemed World Humanitarian Day and Alicia Keys is bringing awareness to a crisis going on regarding ‘Refugees’.
In a new short film called “Let Me In,” the Grammy winner is playing a mother of two in Los Angeles in the nearly 12-minute visual, when her city goes under attack. Those in the L.A. area must then seek refuge in Mexico. Along the way, they face a few more hardships than they were expecting.
“I was stunned when I learned that there are more refugees living in the world today than at any other point in history, and half of them are children,” said Keys. “Creating this film really allowed us to imagine, what if we were the refugees? What if we were the ones torn from the arms of our families and loved ones? How would it feel if this were happening to us?”
The Jonathan Olinger-directed film was created in partnership with We Are Here, CARE, Oxfam, and War Child.
