Mrs. Gabrielle Union Wade is not with B.E.T playing with her pay check or time. Union stated she is getting screwed out of her agreement on the hit show “Being Mary Jane”.
In a lawsuit, you read it right…a lawsuit, Union claims that BET is cramming 20 episodes into season 4 of BMJ instead of splitting them into two separate seasons. The problem with that is the executive producers assured Gabby that there would never be more than 13 episodes in a single season but it get’s a little bit more complicated.
The contract agreed to increase her check from $150k per episode to $165k per episode in Season 5. Looks like BET wanted to cut production cost by cutting the season short and not having to increase Union’s pay. Sources tells us that Union did admit her contract allowed a maximum of 26 episode per season but is a standard clause of Viacom contracts. BET verbally promised they’d never have enough money to shoot that many episodes. She’s suing BET for breach of her contract and seeking more than $1 mil in damages. She also wants her contract amended immediately to reflect the oral agreement of 13 max episodes.
I hope she can prove this “verbal” agreement. It may get ugly in the courts
