Pokemon Go Player Held at Gunpoint by Police , Was Mistaken For Bank Robber!

A Football player for the University of Iowa Faith Ekakitie was mistaken for a Robber while playing Pokemon go… He took his run-in with the police to Facebook, describing how fast one situation led to another after he was caught in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Faith was playing the game at an Iowa City park , when a nearby bank was robbed. Cops immediately went out scouting for the perpetrator, and came across Ekakitie in the park, matching the description of the suspect, who was said to be a large black male, wearing all black with something on his head.

While they were watching him Faith had his headphones on so he had no idea. Due to not being able to hear anything, leading to him not responding to their orders, the officers drew their weapons. The innocent male was searched thoroughly, with four guns drawn to his head..

He took to FB to document what happened:

“It’s reasonable given the circumstances that weapons would have still been drawn, given the fact that this person matched the description of an armed bank robber; He was in the area of the bank within two minutes,” he said. “But it’s extremely sad that our society has brainwashed us all to the point where we can’t feel safe being approached by the police officers in our respective communities.”

Although he commends the Iowa Police Department for doing their jobs and handling the situation in a respectful manner, he wanted to let the world know they should learn from his mistake, and always be aware of their surroundings. Race may not have played an issue in this instance, but several black men have lost their life within the past years for “not complying to officers’ commands.”
