Leslie Jones Quits Twitter After Receiving Racist, Sexist Comments…
One of the leading ladies in “Ghostbusters, Saturday Night Lives Leslie Jones ” Has quit Twitter after receiving several racists and sexist comments via online. “I leave Twitter tonight with tears and a very sad heart. All this cause I did a movie. You can hate the movie but the sh*t I got today…wrong,” she wrote. She retweeted many of the uncalled for tweets so that fans could see what she was going through.
“I feel like I’m in a personal hell. I didn’t do anything to deserve this. It’s just too much. It shouldn’t be like this. So hurt right now.” Jones also called out Twitter for their lenient guidelines when it comes to hate speech and abuse by writing, “Stop letting the ignorant people be the loud ones.”
“I’m more human and real than you f**king think. I work my a** off. I’m not different than any of you who has a dream to do what they love,” one of her tweets read. “I use to wonder why some celebs don’t have Twitter accts now I know. You can’t be nice and communicate with fans cause people crazy.”
Fans and celebrities such as Margaret Cho, Angela Bassett, W. Kamau Bell and Courtney B. Vance tweeted their support by using a hashtag that emerged last night (Jul. 18), to show support and solidarity for the comedienne- #LoveForLeslieJ.
