The original Queen Bee is the latest female emcee to be honored at VH1’s upcoming ‘Hip Hop Honors’. Missy Elliott and Queen Latifah are among the honoree’s as well.
“Hip Hop Honors” is making its return this year after a lengthy hiatus. And 2016’s comeback will feature the all-female cast of rap legends. Originally launched in 2004, “Honors” has paid tribute to several acts in the past, including Salt-N-Pepa, Missy Elliott, and Tupac Shakur. In 2006, Kim appeared on the “Hip Hop Honors” stage to pay tribute to MC Lyte, who was celebrated that year.
Lil Kim should’ve been honored a long time ago, especially since she has three consecutive platinum albums Hard Core, Notorious K.I.M. and La Bella Mafia. This year, she also dropped her latest mixtape, Lil’ Kim Season, which featured the Maino-assisted “Panda (Remix)” and her revamp of Drake’s “Summer Sixteen.”
Now, the Notorious K.I.M. is gearing up to hit the road with Puff Daddy & The Family on their reunion tour, which kicks off in August.
