When your words come to bite you in the ass but its not a surprise to most of us. Hip-hop’s well known Trump supporter, Kanye West did not receive an invite to perform at the President elect’s inauguration. The Presidential Inauguration Committee Chair, Tom Barrack Jr., confirmed that Yeezus will not be present at the event.
CNN caught up with Barrack and questioned him about the invite.
“We haven’t asked him. I mean, he’s been great. He considers himself a friend of the president-elect, but it’s not the venue. The venue we have for entertainment is filled out. It’s perfect. It’s going to be typically and traditionally American. Kanye’s a great guy. We just haven’t asked him to perform. We move on with our agenda.”
Criticism came when many felt that the words “traditionally” and “typically” were poor word choices by the chairman. Most agreed that Tom Barrack’s long winded word choice really meant “white”. Trump’s inauguration has been the source of division and criticism for many.
Last year, the rapper endorsed and met with the President-elect. “I wanted to meet with Trump today to discuss multicultural issues,” ‘Ye tweeted. “These issues included bullying, supporting teachers, modernizing curriculums, and violence in Chicago. I feel it is important to have a direct line of communication with our future President if we truly want change.”
Some musicians, including Jennifer Holliday, have backed out of performing at the inauguration.
