Well it looks like it’s officially happening, Pacquiao and Top Rank, his promoter, have agreed to terms for a May 2 bout, Top Rank vice president Carl Moretti told ESPN.com on Tuesday night, although Mayweather has not yet agreed to terms and it remains to be seen if he will. Mayweather to Make $120 Million If He Agrees to Fight him.
According to ESPN.com
“Top Rank and Manny have agreed to the terms on our side. I don’t know about the other side,” Moretti said.
Manny Pacquiao has agreed to terms for a long-awaited super-fight with Floyd Mayweather on May 2 in Las Vegas, Top Rank, Pacquiao’s promoter, told ESPN.com on Tuesday. The sources told Yahoo Sports that not only have the sides agreed for the fight to be May 2 at the MGM, but also on a 60/40 purse split that would favor Mayweather. Mayweather could make in the range of $120 million.
For Mayweather to make this type of money, ticket prices and PPV prices for the bout will be raised to astronomical levels.
The live gate could be upwards of $40 million which would double the previous record. It appears depending on who you believe that we are just waiting for Mayweather to sign off on the fight and according to Showtime he plans to do so.
I’d be excited about this if this was like 2010.
