Lee Daniel’s Empire is the hottest show on television right now, so you would think Diddy would want Quincy to be apart of a banging show, especially with him trying to become the next R&B superstar ?He just released his new single featuring French Montana called “Friends’ Sean “Diddy” Combs pulled his adopted son, Quincy, from the cast after getting into a fight with 20th Century Fox TV over music rights.
According to Pagesix.com
Sources say Quincy was guaranteed a role on the show about a family-run hip-hop record label starring Terrence Howard and Taraji P. Henson, but Diddy hit the roof when he learned that his son would have to sign over a portion of his music rights in relation to the show to Fox.
Stars on the show are subject to similar music contracts as those on other shows like “Glee” or “American Idol,” which propel their players into superstardom. “Empire” features a score curated by hit-maker Timbaland and includes original songs that are sold on iTunes and Spotify.
A source told us: “Diddy kicked up a huge stink and called all the top brass at 20th Century Fox TV to get them to change their rules over music rights,” but he didn’t get his way. “He said there was no way his son was signing over his intellectual property. So he banned him from the show.”
“Lee’s super excited about having Quincy on the show,” we’re told, as long as his dad relents on the intellectual property issue. Reps for both Fox and Diddy declined to comment Monday night.
“Empire” has also drawn notable guest stars such as Naomi Campbell and Cuba Gooding Jr. We’re told that producers are poised to announce that Rita Ora andJennifer Hudson have landed roles. Meanwhile, a multitude of actors and musicians — including Ashton Kutcher and T.I. — have approached producers about signing on.
I get where he’s coming from but I doubt Quincy is going to blow up anyway. Seems like diddy wanted to get quincy to sing some bad boy songs, instead of the ones Timbaland wrote. And if anybody knows about messing people over the rights to their music it’s Sean P. Diddy Combs… The Irony..
